To say that Americans consume a lot of chicken wings during the Super Bowl every year would be an understatement. The National Chicken Council, a non-profit trade association, forecasted that Americans would eat a record-breaking 1.45 billion wings during Super Bowl weekend in 2023.
That is enough to provide four wings for every man, woman, and child in the country. So, chicken wings are likely to be on the menu at many of this year's Super Bowl events. And if you play your cards correctly, you can get some for free.
Popeyes just announced that it will provide 12 free wings to customers during the Super Bowl LVIII weekend. From February 9 to February 11, any client who spends $15 or more at Popeyes through DoorDash will qualify for the gift.
DashPass users can also upgrade their deal to a free 12-piece combo when they spend $15 or more. If you're craving wings right now and can't wait till the Super Bowl, don't worry!
Popeyes will also offer free 12-piece wings at the NFL Pro Bowl Games on Sunday, February 4. The promotion is valid for DoorDash customers who spend $15 or more at Popeyes and use the code "WINGIT" at checkout.
While Popeyes has provided chicken wings on a limited basis in recent years, they did not become a permanent menu item until November 2023.
Customers can presently order five different wing flavors: Ghost Pepper, Sweet 'N Spicy, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Honey BBQ, and Signature Hot. All of the wings are marinated in Popeyes flavors before being hand-battered, breaded, and seasoned to taste.
Since wings became a permanent feature, Popeyes has worked to persuade customers to abandon competing wing businesses and try its version of the famous poultry delicacy.
According to a press release, in November, billboards advertising the wings were deliberately placed near competition restaurants.
Applebee's has officially announced that customers who spend $40 or more on to-go or delivery orders will receive 20 free boneless wings on February 11.
To take advantage of the promotion, guests must purchase through Applebee's website or app and enter the discount code "BIGGAME24" at checkout. Buffalo Wild Wings will also provide complimentary wings to everyone in America if the Super Bowl goes into overtime.
